KERHAVEN COLLIES
Welcomes You
Please click on the button below and it will take you to my collie discussion group where you can meet many others who also love this breed. Here you will be able to have any questions you have regarding this wonderful breed answered by people who have many years experience. Some are Breeders like me, others are companion dog owners who simply love the breed and have lived with them for years.

While I have had collies since 1965 , I only began breeding them in 1996. I show collies in conformation and trial them in obedience. I have bred champions and I have put championships on other collies I purchased from other breeders. I have titled collies in obedience having several who have earned high in class and one who earned High in trail.
My focus as as breeder is to breed structurally sound well built collies with good heads and expression and correct collie temperament. Health is important to me so I do health checks on the dogs I own prior to breeding. I offer a genetic health guarantee on all my dogs. I offer references to those who want them, and I ask for references from all clients. Puppies sold as companions are sold on a CKC non breeding agreement, or on co-ownership with me. If the co-owner wishes to consider breeding AFTER the dog has obtained its championship and has passed health testing, I will help said client to select an appropriate breeding partner for the collie based on bloodlines and physical attributes as well as over all health. Dogs sold to the U.S will either be on AKC limited registration to a private person, or co-ownership with me, with the exception of dogs sold to established breeders.
I try when possible to incorporate normal eyes into my breeding program but I do NOT exclusively breed for normal eyes..I breed for quality and health first and foremost. That said, all my current dogs are normal eyed with one female being an Optigen cleared non carrier of both CEA and PRA.
I breed very sparingly having one litter every one to five years. I breed both varieties, rough and smooth as shown in the picture. My collies are all housedogs..none live in a kennel. Puppies are born in a room just off my kitchen so become accustom to the sounds and smells of cooking, vacuuming, washing dishes etc.
All puppies will have had at LEAST one puppy vaccination at between 8 and 10 weeks of age, all will have three dewormings and will be identified by micro chip. All will have been checked by a board certified ophthalmologist prior to sale. Regarding spay/neuter..this is a decision you need to have with your vet.
